Tauroursodeoxycholic acid (TUDCA)

In 2013, a landmark discovery was published in the journal Brain, providing evidence that a compound called UDCA could restore mitochondrial functioning in those with Parkinson’s (Mortiboys 2013). When UDCA is ingested, it is combined with taurine at its first pass of the liver, becoming TUDCA (Tauroursodeoxycholic Acid)(Amaral 2009).
